17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17 CSB)
Whenever our words and deeds are consistent people come to depend upon us talking and acting in a certain way. If this consistency is positive then people begin to trust that we will follow through in a certain manner.
However, when word and deed are not consistent, then trust is lost and we may not be able to be counted upon.
This is more self evident than we imagine and people quickly see our true nature. Thus, we must be consistent in word and deed, greater still if people know these are all done in Christ name.
