²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession ^[a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ²⁷ Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27 NKJV)

Yesterday we talked about the Helper we are given when we come into a relationship with Christ and accept His salvation. Do you also realize that even when you do not pray the right prayer, the Spirit intercedes with the right prayer?

In our scripture we see how the Spirit makes intercession for us, but do not miss that He does so according to the will of God. This can be easily missed and is vastly important. I have heard many believers say that they do not know how to pray or they struggle in prayer. We do not have to worry about that because when we come to Christ saving grace we are given an interpreter for our needs to be correctly conveyed to God. He takes our humble and, at times, confused words and assures us that they are in line with God’s will.

But what if your prayer is not answered in the way you expect? Just know that what God is giving you is what you needed all along.

Reflect on: Your understanding of the Spirit’s role in conveying your prayers to God and pray with abandon!
