1 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death; (Psalm 13:1-3 NKJV)
Do you feel like God is not listening to your prayers?
You are in good company then, even the Psalmist 2000 years ago had times like this. Times when he did not feel like God was listening. So, what did he do? He brought those concerns to God directly. Did not flinch from having a difficult conversation with God. He knew that our God is big enough for our complaints.
We need to be honest with God and bear our feelings. He already knows them, but it does our soul good to have such frank conversations with God. He wants us to be bold but humble in His presence. Making our case and pleading with Him to act on our behalf. He may not act how we expect, but make no mistake He will act. Maybe not in our timeframe, but in His good time and to His good plan
Reflect on: Times when you felt your prayers were not being answered. What did you do? Did you come boldly and humbly before the cross? Lay your burden down at Jesus feet and do not pick them back up. Just wait expectantly upon the Lord.
