The Golden Strand

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, (Ephesians 1:3-5 NKJV)

People, through the ages, have had varying opinions on predestination. It seems to be a snag point for those who cannot see how the idea can exist with a God who provides us free will. If He knew before foundations of the world were established who would be in Christ, what’s the point.

But our God is a god of time and space. He understands every possible outcome to our every possible decision, including accepting Christ. So, yes, He knows our destination before we begin our journey. That does not mean we do not have the free will to choose the destination, it just means that God already knows every possible strand we might follow. There is the one He desires us on, call it the golden strand. But He gives us the free will to take any other color strand all the way to the black of sin.

Reflect on: The strand you choose each day and how close they may or may not be to the golden strand which is God’s plan for our lives.
