3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Philippians 2:3 NKJV)
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. (Matthew 16:24 NKJV)
I have a three questions and a challenge for us today. Do we seek the kingdom of God first? Do we see others as better than ourselves? Do we deny ourselves and take up the cross?
Scripture is clear on the path to a strong faith life and friendship with God. But do we really follow the guidelines set for our faith life. I would challenge that we do not. I would challenge that our human nature wins out more often than not. And before you start to feel like I am pointing at you, the finger is pointing at me first as the chief among sinners.
The challenge I have is for us to do just that; Seek first, uplift others and deny ourselves. In doing this we start to really experience the Godly life we should aspire to.
