19 As in water face reflects face,
So a man’s heart reveals the man. (Proverbs 27:17 NKJV)
I wrote yesterday on time away, and during my time away I am spending it in reflection, especially on who I am in God and how that reflects upon my life. My actions, I know, do not always reflect the God who is so central to my life. However, I know that my heart does always reflect God’s place in my life. So, even when I am not at my best, my desire is toward God.
I realize that this reflection brings out spiritual traits that now define me. My go to actions the more God is present in my life are a humble nature and a caring and compassionate heart. As the Spirit guides us in this life I do not think that we can have anything less than a humbleness and compassionate heart. Humbleness is simply a byproduct of reading the Bible and understanding what scripture teaches. It shows us just how Christ acted in every aspect of His ministry and in all He had to teach us. Compassion naturally flows forth from this humble nature as we concern ourselves with those around us.
Understand, nowhere in this am I boasting about being a good person. I struggle with sin just like everyone else. But I feel the Spirit at work within me.
Reflect on: What lies beneath and how what is there is changing how you are outwardly.
