20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NKJV)
The life we live, once we come to Christ, is no longer our own. In fact, if we try to live out our faith life in our own flesh it would be impossible. We need the Spirit for us to be able to live out any aspect of a good life in Christ.
Too often we try to do this life on our own, especially if we have confidence and a strong will. The human side takes over and leads us along paths that are not in line with a life of faith. You can argue the point, but this is the way of the flesh. It wants what it wants and does not counsel with the Spirit until we bring it under God’s will. Our flesh, our minds and our hearts must be in alignment.
Looking back over this life, I have chased a great many things. Luckily, alongside that chasing I too have chased the faith life from a very early age. I think now, looking back, having been saved at an early age almost made it more difficult. I have wrestled with my conscious for a very long time now and even when knowing the right way have chosen the wrong at times. This weighs heavy on me now.
Reflect on: The life you live and how you live it, is it rooted in Christ? Or are you making decisions on your own?
