Perfect, Proven and Trustworthy

31 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him. (2 Samuel 22:31 NKJV)

There is little in this life we can say is perfect, proven and trustworthy. But if we know God, we know that those words can be attributed to Him. Now, I know those who have felt that way and because of some difficult twist of fate began to feel differently. They have felt betrayed by God, forgotten or let down. The problem, in most every case, isn’t that God has failed them, but that their faith was so shaken by worldly events they no longer believed.

I am not diminishing their situation. In this world we may endure a lot, and there comes the age old question “why does a good God let bad things happen?” Well, we cannot know everything this side of heaven. We may not see the good end to a bad situation. So how then can we say God is perfect, proven and trustworthy? We must look beyond this world and our small spec of a space in it. We must look beyond the hurt and failings of others and see that God is there no matter what has happened to us. This can be frightfully hard, and it may be that we must just rest in His loving embrace until He shows us more.

Reflect on: How you can look beyond circumstances and see God on the other side.
