27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27 NKJV)
Peace may be one of the most elusive qualities of life. Even in the Christian life we struggle to rely upon the promises of Christ. Why is this?
Well, for one thing, we do not trust enough. But probably more realistically, the world and the enemy give us much that invades any peaceful state. Even the most faithful of us find fear worming its way into their lives. Life just has a way of stealing our peace.
So, what can we do? Well, for one thing we can pray. When we lift our fears up to God, He is faithful and His Spirit will begin to alleviate that fear, if we can bolster our trust. We cannot hope for the Spirit to work within us if our trust wavers. This is when we have to relinquish the thought that we have any control. We must just lean into God and trust Him fully.
Reflect on: Your ability to lean into God and simply trust. Do you need to pray for the strength to trust Him fully?
