I like to think that I put an appropriate amount of priority around things in my life. I do not get in a rush about as much as I used to, that is for sure. I have come to realize that most situations are better served by giving them time to percolate.
60 I made haste, and did not delay
To keep Your commandments. (Psalm 119:60 NKJV)
Percolate is a term that was used a lot many years ago because we were more used to waiting. No microwaves, no Keurig, no instant oat meal, things just took a bit longer and to be honest we were the better for it I think. Life was a bit more relaxed and things came about it their own good time.
But life has changed and our lives have become hectic, everything presses upon us to get done sooner rather than later. In fact the pace of our lives presses God out more and more with its continual clamor for our attention.
While life may be a rush, we are to wait on the Lord in many cases. However, once He has set us a task we are to make haste. This tends to be the one place in today’s world where we then want to percolate on what He has given us. Maybe the timing is not good for us, we have other priorities, or we just want to think on it a while. No, we are to set out straight away on God’s task!
Reflect on: Do you make haste for the things you want to do and percolate on things of God? Consider this for a moment, percolate on it.
