1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 NKJV)
Fear can creep into our lives and we can find ourselves held captive by its icy grip. It can be fears about our health, about family, about work, about money, about just about anything really. We forget that we are children of God and fear has its way with us.
Anxiety is fear’s little brother. I have had much anxiety in my life and have talked to many others who suffer from it. Anxiety tends to hit me in the middle of the night and keep me awake. In others it hinders their joy and leads to worry and fear. These feelings can begin to stack one on top of the other.
Our scripture tells us that the Lord is the our light, our salvation and the strength of our lives. We must heed this and not allow ourselves to fall into anxiety and fear’s trap. We must speak our knowledge of Christ in our lives out loud to anxiety and fear. Explaining to them that if God is for us, who can be against us.
Reflect on: How fear and anxiety shape your life and what you need to remember about your life in Christ that tells a different story.
