14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:14-15 NKMV)
I write frequently about the value of the Holy Scriptures. I do so because I cannot emphasize enough the importance of study and meditation on them. There is simply so much to learn and the value of reading them over and over is that the Spirit reveals them to us a little at a time. I can’t tell you how many times I have read the same scripture and come away with a different meaning. Not that our interpretation was wrong, but that the season of our life has changed and the Spirit provides a different insight into the words.
Faith in Christ Jesus is key to unlocking the mysteries contained within scripture. With out that connection we do not have the Spirit to provide insight and understanding. The words become just so many stories we read. Faith brings out the true depth of the scriptures and provides a context in which our walk is formed.
Begin each morning with as little as a single verse and work your way up to larger sections, not reading to get through the Bible, but to plumb its depths.
Reflect on: Your relationship with the Holy Scriptures and how continue in these things.
