Judge Not

1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. (Romans 2:1 NKJV)

In Brennan Manning’s wonderful book “The Signature of Jesus”, he writes, “Writhing in agony on the cross, Jesus says, “I know every moment of sin, selfishness, dishonesty and degraded love that has disfigured your life, and I do not judge you unworthy of compassion, forgiveness and salvation. Now you be like that with others. Judge no one””.

Like our message yesterday on agape love, this is how our God loves us. Once we have come to belief in Christ there is no more judgement and we are expected to do the same, not to judge. But how often we do, even in small things. How often we turn a discerning eye to how someone else is living when we ourselves need a discerning eye upon our lives. We must remember that in how we judge, we too will be judged.

Reflect on: Just how often your discerning eye turns upon another. Should it be turned on your life as well?
