Mercy

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins [a]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. (Hebrews 8:12 NKJV)

When we come to the saving grace of Christ and believe all our sins are forgiven and God no longer holds them against us. What a wonderful and potentially unbelievable thing. God has forgiven us and promises to no longer remember our sins, but we continue to hold on to them don’t we.

When God makes us free from sin, we have decisions to make. Either we let them continue to drag us down, continue to burden our lives, or we too can let them go and accept Gods grace and mercy. And when we fail and fall back into sin, we can continue to wallow there or we can come back like the prodigal son and ask for His forgiveness again. Miraculously, God is true to His word and continues to forgive us, not seven times but seventy times seven. This is not a license to sin, but a loving promise from God.

Reflect on: God’s mercy, even in the face of our weakness.
