13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come,He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He [a]will take of Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:13-16 NKJV)
I believe the Spirit provides each believer with a pretty good sense of what is truth. Furthermore, we have scripture to guide us when we are unsure. These two things coupled with prayer for discernment provide a pretty clear picture of God’s truth…if we are willing to follow the truth.
We see much in this world that leads people to trade the truth for a lie. This comes from the world, from the enemy and far too often from our own fallen lives. We simply think we know better. We give in to the pressures of the world and the enemy wins.
We need to consider our scripture today and realize that everything the Spirit does to guide us comes from God. And in that it is too from Jesus, as all things that of God are in Jesus as well. These things are conveyed to us through the Spirit. This is a mystery we will not fully understand until we reach heaven, but we can be assured of its truth.
Reflect on: How the Spirit is guiding and if you are accepting His truth.
