²² and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (2 Corinthians 1:22 ESV)

We have been sealed by God through the Holy Spirit as our guarantee for salvation and a life in heaven. This is something that cannot be taken away. Only we can, through disbelief, cause any separation from God. And even then, God will pursue us looking for the single lamb lost from the 99 remaining.

I do not believe we well understand the Holy Spirit. Because He does not come upon us as in the disciples time with tongues of fire, He is a quiet indwelling that is there to provide guidance and intercession with God the Father for us. In this lack of understanding we also miss the fact that He is God’s seal upon us that provides assurance of and growth to our faith life. His way’s are subtle and so often we need them to be overt so we do not miss the blessings of the Spirit.
