2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:2-3 ESV)
My wife may tell you that I never quit being a child, so I may be good in regard to this scripture. Joking aside, how do we become childlike enough to live up to turning the way Christ commanded?
God is try to warn us against allowing our secular maturity and intelligence to get in the way of coming to the Father like a lost child. Like children, we can do nothing without the Fathers help. We need to remember this and come before Him in a humble and childlike way, seeking His hand in all we do.
Mature intelligence can also be a huge hinderance to this. We think we have it all figured out, but in so many ways we truly do not have a clue. I have watched very intelligent people talk them self out of religion all together. It is as if a superior intelligence and a superior being cannot exist together.
Reflect on: The things that keep you from a childlike belief in the Father.
