Sunday Reflection: Vital Union

There is one thing that I have come to realize in regards to my faith, there is a vital union that exist with God that must be cultivated and tapped into.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)

And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done. (Colossians 2:6-7 TLB)

I use different Bible interpretations to cull out the richness of what God offers in scripture. While my go to is the English Standard Version, The Living Bible has some unique expansions on text. The vital union that it brings out in today’s scripture, I think, is very important to how we live each day, otherwise God becomes this distant entity.

Reflect on; Are you seeking the nourishment of roots deep in your faith each day that draw sustenance from the Spirit.
