Moment by Moment

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV)

I have written on this scripture man times, because for us I think there is much to be gleaned from this simple scripture. Of course, on the surface, it is pointing out that God’s mind is far higher and more intelligent than our own. But on a deeper level it too is speaking of the love God has for us and while where He is leading us and what is happening to us may not seem the best for us, He has us constantly in mind.

Thus, when we are experiencing discomfort or feel lead into situations that are not of our making, we need to consider the divine consequences. Our vision only extends to the moment we are in. We cannot change the past and we do not know the future. So everyone lives moment be moment. I often recant the ages old saying, “Man makes his plans and God laughs.” We have to learn to trust that God’s knowledge of what will happen to us is within His plan for us.

Reflect on: Times when you felt God’s push or pull on your life and what you did with it. Are you taking the Spirit’s guidance or trying to figure it out yourself?
