16 But when I thought how to understand this,
it seemed to me a wearisome task,
17 until I went into the sanctuary of God;
then I discerned their end. (Psalm 73:16-17 ESV)
There are times we go through, or situations that others just do not seem to have to deal with, that make us question. But when we go to the Lord’s house, study the scriptures, the Spirit can give us a heart and mind to discern the truth of it all. Maybe we do not find a place of full understanding, but we begin to get a sense of the larger scheme that means more in the light of eternity.
The Psalmist had gone through a period such as this. He was questioning everything, then he went into the sanctuary of God. If we allow it, and our place of worship creates it, we can find a place of peace and security in the sanctuary of God. I have found these places in worship houses and out sitting alone in nature. Places where God’s presence and peace is simply near. It is in these places where we can find understanding through prayer and scripture.
