1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, (Ephesians 4:1 ESV)
We are called to walk a worthy walk. God has called each of us to a life set apart, one that reflects Christ who lives in us through the Spirit. This, as scripture tells us, is a transformed life. It is a life dedicated to furthering the Kingdom and one that replaces our sinful habits with acts of love and service. In so many ways, this reflection of Christ should be manifest in our lives and when we look back we can see that it was a worthy walk.
This transformation does not happen overnight. It can take a lifetime for the Spirit to grind off our rough edges. He has more work on some of us (myself included) that have nothing but rough edges and rough surfaces. We fall into a cycle of improving and then failing. It can be discouraging. But our God is a god of infinite love. He, luckily, does not judge us on our inabilities but on His son’s abilities to cover our sins, He will never leave nor forsake us. And while this thought should be comforting it should also be sobering. A thought that brings us back to who we should be trying to be.
Reflect on: Your walk today. If it is not what it should be purpose to improve.
