²⁷ For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. (Matthew 16:27 ESV)

Take a moment to consider your life to date. Everything you have done. That could be a lot to consider, especially if you are older. Our lives are comprised of many, many things done each day for ourselves and others. Go further still and consider every thought you have had. Now we tread into territory that can be pretty dark for some and quite vast.

Now consider this, and I am sorry it is a sobering thought; Jesus will return and He will judge us and repay us for all of those thoughts and deeds.

Now, before you start to freak out, Jesus has also already done the atoning work of shedding His blood to cover every bad or sinful thing we have thought or done. But He will still take us through a life review when we get to heaven and we will relive all the good and bad in a moment. Seeing the outcome of every thought and action.

That should be a sobering thought.
