The Way You Should Go

17 Thus says the Lord,
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
    who teaches you to profit,
who leads you in the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17 ESV)

Yesterday, we talked about the hard way. But do we really have a good idea of the way our lives should go? Oh, we may have all kind of ambition and promise, but aside from taking the hard way of faith in our lives, what points our way?

Well, there are two very common faith answers; scripture and prayer. To be sure these are good ways to discern the way you should go. But if we are honest, we still may not really know exactly what to do, or when to do it.

This is the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Even when we do not clearly see the path to take, we should take His direction, His subtle nudges one way or the other. Being open to the Spirit’s guidance is more about the flow of life and how God orders our steps. We may not clearly see exactly where we are headed, but if we are sticking to scriptural truths, praying about it and then being open to the Spirit leading we will find our way.

Reflect on: The subtle nudges of the Spirit in your life and where He is leading.
