¹² For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity^[a] and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. (2 Corinthians 1:12 ESV)

Many make the faith life overly complicated. They do not mine the truth of scripture because it may confuse them. But reading the scriptures with a child’s heart is the best way for the Spirit to convey its meaning. Some things were not meant for us to understand this side of heaven. However, the core of the scriptures provides a simple message.

Our sincerity around those simple messages is where faith lies. When we simply live out God’s commandments with sincerity and love the faith life becomes a much more easy path to travel.

The enemy and the world want to overcomplicate life. We too make life more difficult with our continual striving for more. It is not that ambition is bad, but that it must not be in pride and it must be with faith in God. He will see to your needs in His time.

Reflect on: If you are overcomplicating your faith life. Look for simplicity and sincerity.
