3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good success[a]
in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3-4 ESV)
Why do we need steadfast love and faithfulness?
First, let’s get a definition of steadfast as it is not a common term; resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. These words of definition should define not only our love but also our faithfulness. When we face the day with steadfast love and faithfulness, we can know that we stand upon the rock. Our foundation is sure and we can approach life in confidence.
Studying scripture and writing them upon the tablet of our heart is how you can combat the stress of life and the arrows of the enemy. We have something to fall back on at a moments notice when our world gets rocked in some way.
And, at least I have found, success with God and man become something of a byproduct of all of the above. It may not be the success the world touts, but it becomes success none-the-less. You see, we all measure success in different ways. It may not mean a big house and lots of money. I have witnessed many a successful person who had little.
Reflect on: Do not let the world define your success, instead wrap yourself in steadfast love, faithfulness and kindness.
