Forgiveness

21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[a] (Matthew 18:21-22 NIV)

We are given ample opportunity to practice forgiveness. But how many times should we forgive someone? Jesus said indefinitely. This does not mean that we do not move to constructively correct someone who continually slights us. But it means that we must have a forgiving heart. We bear no grievance against the person we forgive. We forgive fully and accept people as they are.

Hard right. Yes, maybe, but this is where perfect love is perfected.
