2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. (Psalm 23:2)
God provides for us times where we are, metaphorically, lead beside quiet waters. He provides sometimes periods, more often moments where life slows down and we can sit quietly. It is in these quiet moments where we can really begin to learn who God really is. He gives us these times for us to break away from the turmoil of the world around us and simply be with Him.
But, do we simply grab our phones, tablets or computer when these moments present themselves? More often than not I expect we do. We desire quiet but we are conditioned to be distracted by our electronics.
We need separation from our technology so that we might be able to experience the quiet waters. We need separation from our busy lives so that we might experience the quiet waters. We need separation from our work lives so we might experience the quiet waters.
When we simply spend all of our time engaged in something and leave no room to walk beside the quiet waters, we leave no room to hear God’s still small voice.
