Recognition & Reward

1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1 ESV)

Do not feel bad because you might not be being recognized by those around you for your good works. Believers may notice, but we can be assured God notices. In the case of the world and other believers, do not be turned away from good deeds because no one else notices. You are not doing them for anyone but God anyhow. So even when we go unnoticed, know our God notices.

The fact is that the world only notices those who are successful in the worlds eyes. The media may report on some altruistic act, but only if it is big enough to be news worthy. The simple singular acts of kindness and love are not news worthy and not even worthy of others attention. We cannot look to our Christ like acts as something we will get noticed for. In fact, the world may shun us for what we do more often than not. It does not recognize us because it not recognize Him.

We are called to act in a Christ like manner and to not concern ourselves with the outward appearance or any form of recognition. And to be honest, the feeling of doing good things for Christ is it’s own recognition and reward.
