The Daily Battle

14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (Ephesians 4:14-15 ESV)

Growing up. When we reach a certain age we think we are done with growing up. But the maturing process, especially as it pertains to faith, continues. We must see that we will grow into Christ throughout our lives.

The operative part of today’s scripture, I believe, is the idea of us reaching a point where we are no longer tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine and human deceitful schemes. This is where we must be careful and mindful of our growth into Christ. This is where we must become assured in our knowledge of our faith.

I know I write about this element of our growth often. However, In a world where the enemy would have us live its way, we must be both mature and strong in our faith. The idea of putting on the Armor of God is not one that we can take lightly. We are in a daily battle for our faith. We cannot be of the world during the week and of God on Sunday. Our walk must be a daily battle with ourselves, the world and the enemy.
