19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews,[a] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. (John 20:19-20 ESV)

They say, 90% of success in life is just showing up. This must be true because God shows up 100% of the time, even when we don’t necessarily realize He has.

In our scripture the disciples had probably given up in defeat at the loss of their Lord. They evidently did not believe what Mary had told them about Christ being raised from the dead. However, there was no denying Christ when He showed up on that first day of the week.

We know if we do not show up at least 90% of the time for our family or our jobs they will never be successful. Showing up does not necessarily mean being their bodily, even though that is very important. No, it means being present and engaged. When we are present and engaged there is always an opportunity for success. If we do not show up, we will never know what is possible.

The question for us today, is are we showing up when it comes to living out our Christian life? The ingredients to showing up is spending time in the Word, praying, being open and available for divine appointments and spreading the Good News. We have to be doing all of these things to engage that 90% rule. In what way are you not showing up?
