28 Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:8 ESV)
We have a lot of concerns in our life here on earth. Many stresses and anxieties that assail us daily and consume our hearts and minds. But each and every one of them will dissipate when we reach heaven.
Now, this is not a reason to do so any sooner than God has planned for us. Each of us is appointed a specific number of days on this planet even when we do not feel we can go on. And this is not to diminish that all of these things that concern us have no merit or weight upon our lives at this moment. But we need not fear, all of these things are meant to help us see more clearly just how much God loves us and cares for us while we are here.
There have been those who have died for their faith. They have lived in tribulation and ultimately paid the price with their lives. But they only feared the pain of death and not what those who may have tormented them could do beyond this earth. Man’s dominion ends here, but God’s goes on into eternity.
Thus, should we not fear more the one who dictates our eternity than those who have some dominion upon the earth.
