Intentional Living

35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. (John 12:35 ESV)

I read in my devotional this morning about being intentional. It is so very important that we are intentional when it comes to being and walking as a light in this world. Not us, but that Jesus shines through us. I had to ask myself just how often Jesus comes up to others throughout my day by what I say, what I do or how I live?

The problem, as I sat and meditated this morning it all comes down to intentionality. It is not enough to simply try to do right in this world and walk in His light. It is to shine a light continually upon our lives, our actions, our thoughts and live intentionally for Christ. It takes more.

If we are not intentional the darkness begins to seep in. Thus, we must be vigilant in all that we do every moment of every day. Keeping to the path is simply not enough. The world and the enemy will seep in and begin to taint with their darkness any light that is within us. No, you say, I walk with Jesus daily. Good! Keep doing so and make sure you are intentionally shining His light on every dark corner of your life so that no darkness seeps in.

There are so many aspects to intentional living that go well beyond simply living for Christ. It is this form of living that forges a bright path forward and keeps Jesus light shining forth from us.
