For the Weary

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted; (Isaiah 40:28-30 ESV)

Life can be draining. Even, as our scripture notes, youth become faint, weary and fall exhausted. I realize I am no longer a young man. This manifests in my lack of endurance more and more. I like to say, like the song lyrics, “I may not be good as I once was, but I am good once as I ever was.” Maybe that is true, in small burst of energy.

But to run the race of life we must build a different kind of endurance. An endurance of the spirit and the mind. If these are strong, even though our body may grow weak we are still capable of much.

God never grows weak, does not faint or grow weary. His understanding of our lives is deeper than we can even imagine. He knows everything about us and all that we are going through. He will provide strength where strength is needed. But we must rely upon Him. We cannot move forward only in our own power. This is how we fail from a faith standpoint.

So, when life is coming at us hard and we are growing weary, we must turn to the One who provides strength. Knowing that at no time is He weary or not listen for the call of His children.
