9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, (2 Timothy 7:14 NIV)
Do you feel like you have been called to a holy life?
We all have.
Do you feel like you are living out this calling?
Possibly not.
Our calling is a simple or as complex as we make it. For some it may simply be to live with Christ in mind and try not to sin. Sounds simple in the saying, but can be complex in the doing. Others may feel the call to do something more. They become pastors or missionaries or simply write what God puts before them for others to read. The second example may have a few more components but again can be as simple or complex as we make it.
I am a simple writer, who did not realize that God wanted him to use this talent (if I can call it that) for His Kingdom until late in life. My buddy is working on his doctorate in theological studies. His efforts are far more complex than mine. But, do we both serve the same God who simply called us in different ways? Yes.
My friend has told me many times how much he respects what I do, and I surely respect his difficult undertaking and how he serves. God will use both of us in different ways, but to the same end. But regardless of how much or little each of us do, we are all called to one salvation and called to holy living.
