25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze directly before you. (Proverbs 4:25 NIV)
The distractions in our life, especially our faith life, can be so numerous we may feel like there is no way to focus on what is important. And when we are not focused upon the important we are easily led astray by the enemy or our own vices.
Fix your gaze directly before you. This is very simple and very prescriptive. In times of great distraction we must keep our gaze (mentally) focused directly before us. We can get hung up in trying to look at every option, but it is far better for us to keep focused and moving forward.
In truth we need to keep our gaze directly before us and upward. The world and the enemy will make us want to look down at what they are presenting and not up at what God is expecting. We need to keep focused upon what God is expecting to us during these times so that we might seek to grow in them. This focus upon growth allows us to go through times of distraction thriving and not just surviving.
Fix your gaze.
