21 Now it is God who strengthens us together with you in Christ, and who has anointed us. 22 He has also put his seal on us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 CSB)
Have you ever had to put a large down payment on something? Maybe you were buying a car or a house and to get the payment where you wanted or as a surety you put funds on the line.
Well, Christ payed the ultimate price for the whole of our salvation. Then we were given the Holy Spirit as a seal and down payment for eternity.
There is a strength in this wonderful knowledge that many believers do not realize in their lives. Yes, life can be difficult for us all, but no matter how hard, as a believer, we have the surety of the Spirit’s seal upon our lives. We can know that God is there for us and we can look forward to the paradise to come.
Consider today what God has done for you. What He has made perfect in our lives and what we have to look forward to. Thank Him for the gift of the Spirit in our hearts and the surety of salvation and look forward to the eternity to come.
