Move On

Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him:“Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.” ( 1 Kings 17:7-9)

Our scripture yesterday noted how God will take care of us. Today, the next two lines of scripture shows us that God may very well tell us to move on from where he just put us to take care of us and for us to grow or do His bidding.

The brook where God sent Elijah dried up. This was natural because Elijah had called down a drought on the land. But God did not let him die without water, He told Elijah to move on. Go to the next place I direct you and you will be supplied.

We do not like this. We want stability and normalcy in life. Well, I sure know I do. But God will sometimes move us outside of our comfort zone so that He can be our only supply and we can see His hand in what is happening.

He may be using us to help others as well as we will see in Elijah’s interaction with the Widow.

Today, though, take away that God may be moving you around to provide for you and give you a place to grow. He may be moving you on so that you can be a blessing to others as well. But we will never know if we do not…move on.
