8 You have set my feet in a spacious place. (Psalm 31:8b CSB)

God will, at times, put us in either a place where we are very contained or a spacious place. Now, I am not talking about actual physical space. I believe God contains us when we need less logical or spiritual territory to roam, to help us learn a lesson. I think He puts us in a spacious place when He is looking for us to grow into new spiritual territory. He is giving us the opportunity to be more than we have been before. And He is looking to see if we will take advantage of His opportunity.

You see, just because He provides a wide expanse for us to grow into does not mean that we will willingly do so. No, some times we just like where we are and are not looking to grow. We are comfortable and secure with out position in life and really just want to be left alone. But our God is not a god of leaving us alone. Neither in the good times or the bad.

Our God is a god of opportunity. He wishes for us to grow and fill the mold he set for us long ago, before the earth was formed. Yes, that is exactly what He does some times. He provides a spacious place to see if we will expand to fill it. Or will we hold to our small niche we have, in our limited way, carved for ourselves.

Maybe God has lead you somewhere new and He is just looking for you to fill the space.
