2 Make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. ( Philippians 2:2 NLT)
I have witnessed so much disconnect between people. Be that in families, in work places, ministry or just passing on the street. We all think we have a clue and everyone else is clueless. What a sad state of existence. Wouldn’t it be better if we just accepted each other, gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and strive to work together.
Yes, unequivocally it would be. But there is the enemy and he wishes to steal, kill and destroy.
Steal our peace – by keeping us at conflict with one another and doing everything he can to sow discord. He does not want us agreeing wholeheartedly and loving one another. He wants to feed our insecurities and drive us to conflict.
Kill our will – God gave us an inmate desire to come together in community. But the enemy does not want this. He knows a strand of three is not easily broken. If he can cull us from our community and separate us from one another, feeding our selfish nature, he can win.
Destroy our relationships – consider if we could work together with one mind and purpose what we could get done! Instead we bicker and snipe, we climb to make ourselves better even at the expense of others.
Make me truly happy – Paul was beseeching the church at Philippi to come together and be like minded. He knew that doing so would not only make him truly happy but would make God truly happy and be better equipped to fulfill God’s plan on earth.
