2 Why do you spend silver on what is not food,
and your wages on what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,
and you will enjoy the choicest of foods. (Isaiah 55:2 CSB)
I seem to have written more of late on our materialistic nature. It is interesting when God leads me to a series of passages like this. I have to believe it is His urging us to see beyond the material world and accept something greater. He is calling us to Himself so that we gain what is better and will satisfy our continual longing.
There is an ever increasing divide in America between the have’s and the have not’s. The rich are truly getting richer and it is not just the poor getting poorer, it is everyone. Watching as my children make major moves in their lives right now and seeing how expensive everything has become, it all makes me worry for them. The ever increasing demand is driving down the supply and driving cost up in just about every area. I am truly not sure how long this can hold. People are suffering.
The burden of life has shifted and there is a breaking point I am afraid.
We should be seeking God ever more in times like this. We need to be relying upon Him more than we rely upon our money and false personal security. We need to be enjoying the choicest foods that God offers and not the table scrap the world leaves behind.
There is a God sized hole in us all and there is only one thing that can fill it.
