And at the Last

25 “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth. (Job 19:25)

Do you believe that God, our Redeemer, lives and wins in the end?

With all of the bad that happens in this world it can seem like it is a losing battle. We watch the evil and wicked prevail over and over again in the news. We watch as those who protect and serve are put on trial for simply doing their jobs. We see the degradation that is trying to worm its way into our schools and attack our children. It can all just be too much.

But God does win.

And when He returns there will be a great judgement.

But, you see, people do not believe in ultimate truth, morality or that true judgement is coming. No, this is not a popular view. And some may read this today, call me a fool and never read these devotions again. I am sorry for those people and I pray for them.

Just like us, the earth’s days are numbered. No one knows that number but as sure as the sun rises, one day, the sun will set upon a judged world. And all people, great and small, good and bad, wealthy and poor will be judged by a righteous God.

But we have a redeeming God as well and he calls to every man and woman to repent and believe. He holds off this judgement so that as many as possible will have a chance to turn from their sinful ways and reach out to a loving God.

Because you see, when God wins in the end, so do we. We win the ultimate prize. Eternity in heaven with our loving Lord.
