Serving Others

10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10 CSB)

“Use it to serve others.”

I have worked in a predominately service organization my entire career. It has not always been easy and it has not always been rewarding. Anyone who is in a predominately service role will tell you that it can be a bit of a slog at times.

But my role in life has been mapped for me and it seems to primarily be in these types of positions. I have said often that I am a good first but I am a great second. Meaning, when I am supporting others I am at my best. And in truth, I like serving others.

Our responsibility as Christian brothers and sisters is to support one another. In every way we were meant to be the body of Christ and each member has a role to support each other. When we are supporting one another we are at our best. We are doing what Christ always planned for the church to do. And our churches try. But, today, there is too much need and too few workers. The 80/20 rule is much in effect.

“Use it to serve others.” When we are all working together to support one another we find that getting along is so much easier.

Think of how much better this world would be if the 80/20 rule were reversed.
