¹⁴ For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, (Ephesians 2:14 CSB)

There is a great and growing division between us all today. The barriers that Christ began breaking down so long ago, we humans have built right up again. And in even greater granularity than once existed.

The last three words in our scripture have significant meaning. It is through Christ sacrifice that he brought down the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile. In His flesh, he atoned for all. Yes, there were other dividing walls in Jesus’ time culturally as well. But today our dividing walls go so much further, so much deeper. Every subtle nuisance between us seem to now divide us.

It must break God’s heart to see how we have trampled on this one specific scripture. How we have gone further and further in our division, even to the point of doctrinal divisions within His church. If we were to simply work on this one aspect of scripture how much better the world would be.

Christ must unite us and break down every division so that we can be one in spirit.
