Small, Great & Big

“You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.”  (John 15:16 NJB)

Consider for a moment today the difference between being chosen for something rather that when we choose to do something. In general I think that we would all accept that being chosen is more special than something we chose. Being chosen immediately implies that we are found to be worthy of such a choice. We are set apart and made special in some way.

God chose you. He also commissioned you. He now expects you to bear fruit. And He has given you power in His name.

That is a lot! That’s big! That is not just sorta special, that is really special. You were chosen to do great things and God does not make mistakes.

He has chosen you and put you on a special path to do great things. But lets be very clear, great things do not necessarily have to be big things. No. If you tell one person about God that is doing a great thing. If you live a lifestyle that points to God and give Him the glory for it so that everyone knows what you live for, that is a great thing. If you are the one in your family who points the way to Christ, that is a great thing. And lets also be clear, these are not small thing either, they really are big things. You see, God has a different scale of measure than we do on great, big and small. To Him, everything for the Kingdom is great and big, even when it is small.

You see, in God’s eyes even the small are great. Remember the mustard seed.
