Pay Careful Attention

15 Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise— 16 making the most of the time,[a] because the days are evil. 17 So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:15-17 CSB)

I am going to go a bit old school today and give you three points to ponder for your day.

Your walk – Have you taken the time to consider how God views your walk with Him? Are you deepening it or just simply walking along without studying the Word or deepening your prayer life. How would you summarize your walk? Do you ever even give any thought to what your walk even is? Pay careful attention to it and do not be as the unwise but as the wise so that you do not stray from the path.

Making the most of your time – Where do you spend the majority of your time? Are you making the best of it? Most of us will say we spend a lot of time working, I know I sure do. Is it taking over your life? Is there any time in there for God? Is there any time in there for His divine appointments? The days are evil and the enemy will use our idle time and he will abuse our work time. He knows if he can keep us distracted that is a key to separation from God.

Understand the Lords will – I used to really struggle with this last one. I had trouble pointing out the Lords will in my life. Then I realized that what He wanted most was my time and my attention. He wanted me to make the most of my time, which meant keeping Him in all I did. He wanted my attention so that I did not miss the subtle nuisances of His plan when they came along.

We have an awesome responsibility in God and to God that we should pay careful attention to.
