Retirement

14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)

While we may have achieved much for the cause of Christ, we cannot stop striving toward the goal and prize. Our vision must be ever upward and outward perusing the call of God in Christ Jesus.

In a life focused upon faith we really do not ever obtain the luxury of retiring. No, we must seek Christ and speak His truth to others until we go home to our reward. This is a life long endeavor. We may tire from the race, but God will provide the endurance and support we need to keep moving forward, telling others about what Christ did for us.

The choice about what we do with our lives should have been taken from our hands when we came to Christ. However, God still provides us free will so that we can make all the bad life choices we tend to make when He is not involved in the planning. This, more than anything else, should keep us focused upon Him and seeking His guidance in all we do. Then, when He works everything to His good favor, we should be all the more happy to press forward in our calling.

We may reach a time when we can retire from work, but not from service to Christ!
