Faithful Provision

13 Abraham looked up and saw a ram[a] caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son. (Genesis 22:13 CSB)

We may be called upon by God to fulfill a difficult task, but probably none will be what he asked of Abraham. But before Abraham, by faith, carried out what God had asked the angels stopped him and God provided a sacrifice.

God does not ask us to follow a path without providing us guidance and provision. He may create what is needed for us to fulfill His given plan, or He may find a substitute to help us in fulfilling His plans. We, like Abraham, must simply have the faith to follow and expect that God will provide.

This provision is promised to us many places in the Bible. However, often we cannot see the fullness of God’s plan and begin to question. While questioning is not necessarily sinful, it is showing a lack of faith. When we display even a little faith our faith grows.

It could be too that, like Abraham, God is testing our faith. He is looking to see if we will stay the course even when the going gets tough. These test are also a chance to mature in our faith if we can pass them.

Regardless, God is with us even if we fail.
