23 but I see a different law in the parts of my body,[a] waging war against the law of my mind and taking me prisoner to the law of sin in the parts of my body. (Romans 7:12 CSB)
There is a war raging within us that we may not even recognize. And if we do not recognize it, then we are losing the war.
We live in a relatively peaceful time, so war is far from our minds. Yet, we should be waking up each day preparing for the battle ahead. The world and the enemy will throw everything they have at us each day. But if we are oblivious to the fact that we are in a fight, as I said, we have already lost.
Christians often think that the outcome of a faithful life is a peaceful life. I hope for some that is true. But typically it is not. And if we are living a peaceful life then we should be asking ourselves which side we are on.
You see, we are enemies with the world. We are not supposed to be quietly living our lives. We are to be waging a war of love. The enemy hates nothing more than a Christian showing God’s love to those who are hurting and in darkness. He knows that this love wins out in the end. But he wants to take everyone he can with him.
So we must fight.
We must love.
