7 “Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door[a] will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7 CSB)
Ours is an active faith. Whether it is when we are seeking The Savior or, after, when we are seeking Christ intervention. All is action.
Ask – we must begin by asking. When we ask we must be seeking God’s will and not our own selfish desires. By asking in humble acceptance of what may come, we can assure ourselves God will act, just maybe not in our timeframe or the way we expect.
Seek – once we have asked we must seek God’s desired outcome. We must consider if what we are asking is truly in our best interest from God’s point of view. In essence, we must desire what God desires, and to do so we must seek His desires. This may mean we need to repent of our sinful desires first.
Knock – lastly, God wants us to act. As noted, ours is a faith of action. So we must begin to act upon what we believe is God’s will and be open to the Spirit’s guiding in what we are to do. Then the desires of the Lord will begin to manifest before us so that we can carry out His will.
Many believe that faith is passive, but it is not. It requires internal and external actions to fulfill the true will of God.
