6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6 CSB)
Jesus was speaking about the second birth, our spiritual birth, in today’s scripture. However, we can easily apply this to our actions after we come to His saving grace. What of our thoughts and actions are born of the flesh and which are born of the spirit?
You see, everything we do comes from one of these sources. Additionally, even the things that are born of the flesh may be bathed in the Spirit. The more important aspect of this is our ability to see both clearly.
When we can see clearly our motives we can better manage our thoughts and actions. We can ask ourselves if what we do has any weight outside of our fleshly desires. If what we are doing glorifies the spirit or only our flesh. To live from Christ at the center of our lives is what we desire. But we must make this a daily act of submission to His will in all we do.
There is no Christ centered life without submission.
There is no submission without obedience.
But when we learn to live from this center, from the Spirit first, we begin to find the peace Christ speaks of in scripture.
